My washer shuts down as soon as it starts to spin. Does anyone know what is happening to the machine?

It could be the unbalance switch,if the load is unbalanced it will shut off until you raise the lid to reset it.

Or faulty lid switch?

if the motor overloads and stalls out when washer starts to spin, there is a problem
with the operation of the clutch belt-possibly motor pulley groove fouled with
rubber deposits.

Motor slider could be frozen at its outermost. It won't clutch well that way and the motor may trip.

Thanks guys.
Once I remove the clothes from the tub, the timer still advances but, everything stops including the agitation. After a few minutes, the washer will start spinning and drain out the tub.
I also notced while washing a load of jeans, tub indexing and oscillating. The installed a new brake package last year. Could it be breaking down so soon?
Also, there is squeaking and ssheeching during the spinning.
