Hi all,
I have bought a new flat, and am moving into it at the end of this month. The place came with a Bosch Washing Machine (a MAXX range one) which I isntantly have put on ebay!

Soooo here's the question. I've around £1000 - £1200 to spend on a new washing machine. My new dishwasher, cooker, fridge are all Stainless Steel so I want it to be the same colour.

I am currently (cheaply!) bidding on a Stainless Steel Asko Washing machine on ebay, and have set a max bid - if I dont get it, then my options will be:

A Miele W5478 SS, in stainelss steel
OR
A VZUG - Adora S

I cant see any other good branded Stainless Steel Machines on the UK market at the moment, but I could be wrong

What would you guys do? (I really wish ASKO still sold S/S models with the closed door on the UK market)

Also - didnt one of you used to run an appliance website, where they were for sale? This was the only place I remember seeing V-Zugs for sale.

Really appreciate your advice here,

Chris

Again, look forward to your responses - appreciate it

Chris

Chris,
I've got a VZug Adora (SLQ) - only the panel is stainless steel, not the whole machine

Hey there

I like all the options you have :) However, spending that much on a washing machine I would reccomend getting the Miele for its build quality, excellent reviews from owners and you'll get 10 years guarantee with it.

All the best with the move :)

Thank you! Do you think pursuing an Asko model is a waste of time?

I don't know tbh, they seem like well built machines but between the two i'd definitely go for the Miele :)

I bet the kitchen will look stunning with stainless steel appliances :)

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. Like I said the Miele will be backed up with a 10 years guarantee if needs be.

All the best :)

Well

we have the exact same model except it is the white one, and I dont think you would regret it, very well built, does not take forever to try and balance something, really an all out good machine. Wash results are very good, water consumption also good. We have had it for more than two years now and it keeps on ticking day after day, and I think you can really load that thing because I have seen the amount of clothes my wife puts in that thing and it just seems to come out clean without a problem. The one time it actually left a message for us to use less detergent next time, I was very impressed. So the Miele has my vote.

Cheers bud, hope this will help.

Out of your choices I would choose Miele - however bear in Mind, Miele haven't upgraded/updated this model for about 2-3 years now, most Miele's change yearly.

However in the link I have included a stainless steel/silver AEG protex which looks quite modern. It features additional rinse settings up to 5 extra rinses, special design drum surface, 5 year full warranty, 7KG, 1200. I am sure other stores sell this, just this site was the one I saw it.

Or why not save your money a bit, and then maybe buy another machine in future to start a collection. The Siemens IQ-300 stainless steel machine is made in Germany, features a 5 year full warranty, non sealed tub, unlike the AEG, and it features 8KG load with their new drum design 'Wave', 1400rpm with noise reduction motor and anti vibrate design.

It may be worth heading to the Miele Experience centre.
Also why sell the Bosch??

Good luck buying a new machine.

VZug

vacbear58's profile picture
Whist the VZug is a wonderful machine it is my undertsanding that it is WAY out of your price range, so it would have to be the Miele.

I belive that the Asko's were also sold here as Maytags so it might be worth looking out for those as a used option.

But if you have the cash to spare I think the Miele would be the best option all round for many years trouble free washing

Maytag-Asko still available

Hi Chris

The Maytag-Akso machines are still available as 'laundry room concept' washers, also probably as 'semi-commericals' from Whirlpool, Primus and others. You might also look at Schultess if you want to go very semi-commercial, though I bet they cost a fortune!

Maytag Asko

chestermikeuk's profile picture
Chris, Theres a MaytAsko on ebay at moment, I would go for these over Miele if you want something different from mainstream, had these 10years now and still going strong!!

What are you other SS brands as they can all have slightly different colours?

Hi all....
thanks for your replies!

Mieleforever - thanks for the information, appreciate it! It is a very smart machine in white too!

Glenfieldmark...thanks for that link - that AEG looks super nice...I'm going to get shot here, but Im going to say nicer than the Miele...I just guess its a Zanussi under all that pretty exterior isnt it?? And I sold the Bosch as it was just the very basic model, and I have a high end one here I am leaving behing( new owners bought off me) so thought may as well get all new

Vacbear...must admit I assumed VZUG were priced the same as Miele. Yeah, I dont think even I could justify £2k on a washing machine. Shame though

Liberator....thanks for the link - I am going to contact my local stockist and see what the price of these are - I just really like the clean lines of them

Mike...yeah, I had assumed they were Miele Priced...shame really! and I had spotted that Maytag on ebay, but I am currently bidding on an Asko branded version, so I dont want to end up with two of them! REALLY like your set - they just look that little bit different
