Saw these washers in a small town Walmart in Puerto Rico. What really caught my eye was that the White-Westinghouse capacity was in kilos, not pounds. Like on the mainland, the metric system was never fully implemented on the island. They are still using pounds. And I thought White-Westinghouse got out of the washing machine business for the American market years ago.

We have the same White Westinghouse washing machines here in our stores but they are branded as Haier so maybe Haier is their actual manufacturer. THe ones here used to have the agitator in the middle but the ones i have seen recently only have the pulsator disc at the bottom :-)

Haier? I thought Electrolux had purchased White-Westinghouse. Hmmmm, there's a mystery here.

That is a Haier I think this link shows it as haier. I know walmart a few years ago would by brand names and use them on other items. They might still do this.

Well I'll be....

I always thought Haier made those cheap mini-washers. So Electrolux no longer owns White-Westinghouse?

So White, which went around owning everybody else who no longer wanted to own themselves, no longer owns ITSELF? Fascinating.

But this network of owning and badging is rapidly becoming unfathomable. To where nothing has a reputation one way or another. AHH! I get it now. They don't WANT a trackable reputation. Whoever "they" are...... this week.

What's with the white (I'm assuming plastic) ring around the bottom of the stainless steel tub of the White-Westinghouse top-loader? And what's that little "hatch" toward the right side of the ring?

For Frigilux

It is common in Asiatic washing machines that the drum is not one-piece stainless steel: the "sides" are made from a stainless steel (thin...) sheet, but the top and the bottom of the drum are made of plastic.

The Haier, er, Westinghouse laundry has a bit of a retro rounded design to it.

That is truly a Haier.
I wanted to get the cheap one for fun I liked the dial very simple.
And had a F & P esk look in the basket.
Never got it, it was sold the next time I was in the store.
It must sense the load.
No water level and temp buttons.

The dryer is made by Frigidare/Electrolux.

Yes, that dryer door is channeling a 50's era Kenmore dryer. No doubt about it.

WCI always had the swing-out, rather than the Hamper-door setup on the dryer.

Wow, no one has even asked about the Amana badged Whirlpool. Do you still think the AmanaTag washers were all that bad when you consider what has become of Amana now?
