A neighbor of mine is getting rid of her 1981 Caloric Microwave/Gas Convection Oven range. If anyone here is interested in the range OR parts from it I may be willing to serve as a broker. The range itself is free. I am not really sure that I want to help arrange shipping of the ENTIRE range elsewhere, but I could store it for a reasonable amount of time. Also, I am curious enough about this beast that if someone wanted some SPECIFIC parts from it I would be willing to tear it apart and ship a modest amount of parts.

Here's what I know about it: The women bought her place in the early 1990s and both the convection oven and microwave worked at that time. The microwave failed about 10 years ago and the convection oven about 5 years ago. The cooktop works fine.

You can contact me here or at mkieffer@visi.com.

Here are a couple of pics

Can't say I've ever seen a gas range/microwave combination.

IF NOTHING ELSE, please save the Pyroceram shelf insert, along with that special shelf and the stirer cover. I have this in the electric version, but those parts are NLA. You used to be able to buy a Corning Ware pie plate for the stirer cover, but no longer. That oven liner is in beautiful condition. I fixed one of my 12 minute meat loaves in my oven Monday night. It's not the best insulated oven, but being able to combine 3000 watts of heat with microwaves really does a good job.

BTW, you see that the oven has an input of 25,000 BTUs per hour. Just consider that using this particular oven is the equivalent of running an unvented gas dryer in your kitchen, minus the extra humidity.

Out of curiosity does it have a broiler?

If it is like the Tappan gas convection oven, you put food at the top of the oven, I believe, so it is sorta seared in the high temperature air stream. Quick cooked in dragon fire. CU said it is more like high temperature roasting since it is not done under radiant heat.

Do you still have this oven? I have the same Caloric Gas Microwave oven and it still works. Only problem is that the timer for the microwave has stopped working. Also the oven timer is starting to act up. The On/Off knob (farthest to the left) has broken. I would be interested in parts as I can't seem to locate them anywhere.
