In NJ, 2 free (pink and yellow) GE kitchens! The lister is looking to find them a good home. These were just posted last night.

Oh man I wish I had a truck and a place to store these...

They shouldn't be giving them away free, or had better be sure they're really going to be salvaged rather than scrapped.

They're giving away everything; the cabinets would fetch a few hundred dollars at least. I hope they don't go to scrappers.

I wish they were closer. I'd be all over those, like ugly on an ape.

I wish I had room, but I've got a perfectly nice and functional knotty pine kitchen. Maybe next house.

GASP! The pink kitchen still seems to have the original 1955 Washer/Dryer combo - what a wonderful way to have an 'instant retro' kitchen!!

Paul - was wondering how long it would take you to comment on that feature!

These kitchens are identical, not even mirror images. I wonder if they're in stacking apartments? They are a compact arrangement, with the all-in-one kitchen and the companion wall refrigerator; just like GE planned.

OOOH! That would make sense... I know a lot of folks have a 'basement kitchen' for canning and serious baking - imagine having a pink one upstairs and yellow one downstairs (or vice-versa)??

The Posting is Gone Because.....

Someone decided to Offer payment for them
and the Agent said "That Changes Everything".

I'm 20 Minutes away from them and was one of
the First 2-3 people to call. The agent strung
me along, saying that she had to get access to
the property, to arrange a showing for all
interested parties. "The first to say they
want it would get it". She said, time was critical
and they needed to be removed ASAP.

I told her I wanted the yellow one, and I did
not need a showing. I was ready to come over
and remove it. The ad was removed as soon as
Money was put on the table.

She said I could make an offer, but I'm buying
a house right now, and as much as liked to have
the Yellow Kitchen, priority takes precedent.

Good Luck to whomever gets them.

I'm just disappointed with another Agent's lack
of integrity, and Bait and Switch tactics.
I did remind her that they were advertised, as free.
She said that, that "Was Not an Advertisement".
If it's Posted on the CL Classified listing...What else would
it be considered? Oh Well. That's How it Goes.

At least someone saved them to hopefully reuse...

That said, I'm sorry you had that problem Louis.

If it's any help, be reminded not all sellers are like that.  I went to an estate sale the other week on Friday and asked the sellers about this wonderful glider sofa when I was checking out ($250).  She said that I could come back on Saturday and it would be half off, but if I came later in the sale things would become negotiable.  Sadly, I had to be out of town the next afternoon for a family function.  I went back the next morning and said that if no one purchased it for the price she wanted, I would like to bid $50 for the glider.  I even asked if they would throw in the rusty table that sat next to it on the porch.  She agreed and took my name and number.  Apparently at the end of the day, someone offered her $50 for the glider.  The person told her that he was here right now, willing to take it away for that price.  She responded that I was here earlier willing to take it away for that price.

She was even kind enough to let me pick it up two days later.  A+ for salesmanship and character in my book.  :D  Note, this picture was taken after a two hour cleaning (mold, some moss, and a mud dauber nests removed). Do I see potential or do I see potential?  A paint job on the table and she'll be good to go too!

Sorry for getting slightly off topic, but I wanted to share a positive seller story.

I know that all sellers are not bad,
and I didn't mean for my comments to
sound like a blanket statement. I just
had similar experiences lately, to this
one. This woman really strung me along.

I just bought a Washer & Dryer from Ted
in Maryland. He is Awesome. A real
nice guy, upfront and honest.

So yes there are some good sellers out
there.

Thanks again.

I was shocked when I saw these listed as free. IMO, if you're going to list something, then stick to the details of your ad (and if it is on CL, then it definitely is a classified listing). We've sold a few things on Craigslist, and we're up front and honest. It makes for a much easier transaction. That said, hopefully they went to someone who will appreciate them; I inquired over on Retro Renovation as it was posted there as well. I'm just curious to find out who snagged these.
