Dose anyone know why most of the manufactures switch to the crescent shape? I liked the ones that where kind of round, like this one makes!

Why Crescent Style Ice Cubes

Because it is easy to make a reliable IM that makes crescent shaped ice, the GE-HP style IM you found had many problems with leaking mold seals and GE abandoned them in 1985 when the last of the patents expired on the crescent IM WP was building, at which GE payed a Japanese company to make an exact copy of WPs IM for use in their refrigerators.
