Hans, What do you use your range's tilt-out bin for?

I was thinking the tilt-out spice rack was something I didn't remember seeing on Hans' range.  Nice idea.

For salt, maybe, but other spices need to be kept from heat to avoid degradation and deterioration.

Right you are, which is why I often snicker a bit at '50s range advertisements and sitcom kitchen sets.

Because there is almost always a spice rack over the range!

Good point.  I've heard that no matter where you store them, spices should be tossed after six months.  I don't do that.  Spices are too expensive.  If they pass the smell test, I use them.

Thats how you tell

The difference between a 55 and a 56, mine does NOT have the tilt out bin/spice cabinet, also, my ovens are dark blue ,the 56 are more like GE starlite grey.

The big old jar of my mom's CURRY POWDER, which on some fried chicken breasts, helped save an old, dilapidated salad, proves that OLD SPICES NEVER DIE!!!!

I miss features like that on a range to store your cooking condiments & supplements on... Some manufacturers long ago even provided the jars...
