No one will ever do things like this again, but then, no one makes anything that good anymore, and just think, they didnt need computers to tell them how to do it either!!This just shows how great our country used to be! |

It's rare that younger people use their minds and creativity without getting some form of technoligy involved.
The Obvious how things were made is why we all are here collecting machines and appliances from the days of when this country was proud of what they built. And you took Pride as you would never want another company to be "better" than the one you were working for. |

I always enjoy seeing it, As many of you know I completely restored a pair of this model WP W&D about two years ago even to the point of having them professionally stripped and then painted by my partner in his paint booth at his auto-body shop. One has to wounder if any of those hot young men helped assemble my machines originally.
But even though this was state of the art manufacturing in 1952 these washers were anything but reliable and perfectly made. Consider that over 75% of them needed repairs or adjustments in the first year alone and then needed several repairs during their 6-12 year life before they were buried in a land fill or dumped at sea.
Today a new Whirlpool Automatic washer has less than a 5% chance of anything actually failing in the first year and less than 1/2 will ever require professional repair in their 10-20 or longer life span and then they will get recycled into another NEW product.
As an appliance repair person and dealer for over 40 years I would quit this business in a New York minute if I had to go back to selling and repairing washers and dryers like these cool WPs.
