I have a maytag ensignia dryer that has a BAD squeaking/ squealing problem. I looked it up online but about the only thing I got was that I could be a bad/ broken fan wheel. I took the dryer apart and the fan wheel was not loose like it would be if it were broken. I turned the fan wheel/ motor, glide wheels and the idler pulley by hand and there was no noise. There could of been a slight noise when I turned the idler pulley, I kinda put pressure on it when turning it but idk if it is suppose to be completely quiet, but I did not hear any noises when turning everything by hand. The only thing I know could be wrong with it is the idler pulley. My guess is bc the idler pulley didn't have any tension on it bc of course I had the belt off when turning it by hand that that's why I didn't hear any noise. Please help!!!

I have worked on several of these type dryers. The idler pulley is a likely candidate for the squeaking. You need to probably replace the idler pulley wheel or the entire thing. With the new one, grease the shaft where the idler wheel will be turning.

I agree.

The weak spot on these has been the idler pulley. Remove it, clean the shaft of varnish, etc., and put the new one on. I would give the idler a brief touch of turbine oil when putting it on but nothing heavy. Just enough to help it settle in and start self lubricating itself.
