Hi All,

I just acquired this beauty a couple of days ago and I could use some help. I'm a newbie with the vintage appliances but I saw this on CL and had to have it. I've been digging around on the internet the past couple of days to try to find out more about it and this seems to be where all the knowledge is. I'm guessing it is from about 1953. Any tips or advice for restoring is greatly appreciated. Hubby is an electrician so I think he should be able to get the wiring in shape.

Thanks!!

Welcome...

Wow, that is RED!

Looks like a nice save, do you know what the issues are?  Looks like it's missing the deep well cooker from the left rear burner.  Does the burner adjust up and down?  On my '59 Frigidaire it can be used as deep well or standard burner.

Hope you have many happy years of cooking on the great red range.

Monarch....

That cooker could be one of two, Monarch had one that was called a Deep Heet saucepan, the heat came from the sides as well as the bottom, also they had a double boiler deep well thing, I will look thru my paperwork and see what I can find,The roaster/ surface oven is one of the best features ever, Monarch is one of my favorite brands, there is a Monarch website that tells the history of the company.

The double boiler is just the well, there is no "double" but I think it could be easy enough to just use a glass bowl for heating sauces and such. Yes, the features are amazing. But I suppose folks did a lot more cooking back then. One of the burners and the double boiler don't work. We think the clock doesn't work but that looks like an easy repair (so says hubby). The oven door doesn't stay closed on it's own (hence the tape to hold things shut now). And the glass on the right side of the control panel is cracked in a couple of places. I thought there might be parts and pieces available out there but I think I'm finding that's a rarity?

It has several chips and I'm wondering if it is possible to patch and try to match the color or is it best to plan to try to have the whole thing redone. I'm definitely keeping the red color!! Love it!

Thanks for your input!!!

Big Red!

Do you have the domed cover for the surface roaster oven? If you get the inside measurements for the deep well, you might find a deep well pan on ebay; they were all pretty much similar in size and they show up from time to time.

Hi! I just ran across your picture and this website while searching for info on our Monarch Range.
Ours could be the twin to yours with the exception of the color. Ours is white.
Interestingly, our oven doesn't stay closed either and the glass has a crack too!

I hope we can share info on parts and such as we find it!
