I'm not sure if this is the place to be asking, but I don't know the year of the refrigerator I saw at the thrift today. It's a Frigidaire Cyclamatic - 15.6 . It's really nothing special inside, but white on the outside, top freezer and older ,but I don't think it's an early 60's model. I'll try to take a picture later, as I pass by to pick up some other things.

But, I was wondering - if anyone knows when the Cyclamatic model was made by Frigidaire...til what year was it made? 1970's? 1960's?

I'll get a photo and post if that unit is still there, at 2:30PM.

Thanks, anyone.

I have a white 1972 Frigidaire Cycla-Matic w/ a manual defrost freezer, and my sister has my grandparents 1972 Cycla-Matic in harvest w/ manual defrost freezer.  I don't know how long after this they kept making them though.

Not what I thought - but....

I was in such a hurry when I first viewed this - it's a freezer, not a refrigerator...and probably nothing at all....

I didn't get a clear image of the logo on the front - it looks like Citation - but I don't recognize the logo ...is it Whirlpool?

Sorry, got thinking of Cyclamatics....and extrapolation and blurred vision took over. LOL!

Wizard Citation, sold at Western Auto stores.

Frigidaire Cycla Matics were around in the mid 50's.

Thanks Tim - as I get more familiar with what is what...this wasn't even close to being a Cyclamatic. PhilR posted one , but it's a refrigerator. I've never seen a Cyclamatic Freezer - but this was hardly close.

Thanks Polkanut - is your refrigerator in photos here somewhere- the ones that PhilR posted are early 1960's so I'd like to see a 1972.

Wizard Citation - mid 1960's

It's not a collectible, of course, but an eBay ad seems to suggest this Wizard Citation I spotted would be later than 1965(see lower left of ad).

...thanks again for identifying and teaching me something...

GM called "Cycla-Matic" most of it's models with a self-defrosting cold plate in the refrigerator section and a manual defrost freezer. They were made from the early 1950s to the mid-late 1970s (in the very end of GM's production, the models with manual defrost freezers and automatic defrost refrigerators were still made but not called Cycla-Matic).  The white 1962 Imperial refrigerator that I gave to Paul (in the picture that you posted above) is a Cycla-Matic. The turquoise 1961 isn't a Cycla-Matic (it's a Frost-Proof model).

Here's the badge from the 1962 Cycla-Matic.

Another 1965 Cycla-Matic that Paul has.

And my turquoise 1961 (which isn't a Cycla-Matic).

The badge on the freezer doors of our units is nearly identical to the one posted above on the pink fridge.

Don't you ...

just love the old badge id's? I'm sure this is a oft-repeated comment here at aw.org, but I have to say it after seeing the badge/emblems. Nothing like that exists today - there was a little more pride showing through those badges, eh? I won't forget the cyclamatic or the Western Auto Citation. Funny...

I think of the jet, Citation(I worked at an airport and don't associate a Citation with a refrigerator...but a Cycla-Matic....fits...anything "- amatic ' or "a-rama" is a fond memory of those mid-century years. Thanks for posting your photos, PhilR.
