It looks like it was mounted on top of an otherwise very plain backsplash.

 

That is one very homely stove IMO.

For some reason I think it looks kindy funky (that's a good thing). The console/backsplash has a very "automotive" look to it. I love how the extreme ends extend down onto the white, lower part.

For the early-mid 50s, it is not an excessively high backsplash. It has nice Corox-style elements. Crosley was one of the brands, like Admiral that was late to switch to sealed rod bake and broil elements and I don't think they did before ceasing manufacturing after 1956.

I noticed lower down on the fleabay page that there is a gas range knob for sale with the heats printed on it. I guess some cooks have no idea what height flame is comparable to what heat or can't bend over to check the flame height or need help transitioning from electric to gas cooking.
