just got this little puppy in.....its a Whirlpool D-2000 24" model.....two speed....a few cycles and options......spin drain of course, with sprays for each spin....very clean being from July 1985.....oddly enough has good turnover for not having a DualAction agitator.....also has the filter in the agitator...suprisingly whisper quiet.....only needed a pump!......people will throw out anything!....now to find it a good home....

sorry Malcolm...seen one, seen them all.....
the spin drain is probably the only special thing about it... amazing though, granted these are around a 2.5/2.7 cu ft tub, but that tranny and spin clutches held up all these years, and still going....the lady claimed this was the first time it broke down, have to admit, she kept it clean.... just thinking, this machine is almost 30 years old... | ||

 That machine is a landlords dream! Fits anywhere and easy to fix. Nice find. Funny, I've never seen a whirlpool with a clothes guard? Isn't it a little overkill? I guess since it does a spin drain, theoretically it's necessary, but is the final spin really that high?

1985 Design 2000 DD WP
These were good washers and it goes to show that sometimes the early models actually have less problems and as I have predicted for a long time in the future we are going to see many of today's appliances going strong in 20-30 years.
This DD washer was probably right on the change over period to neutral drain models, we saw several WP DD machines like this one that had the timer with the extra pause for the ND but actually still had the spin drain transmission. Martin what week of the year was this washer built and does it have the pauses for ND in the timer? John L. | ||

That was my very first new washer I bought for my mobile home in 1986. Mine had a neutral drain and didn't have the tub guard though. I remember I paid $350 for the washer and $300 for the matching electric dryer. They worked very well for many years and were still going strong when I sold the place.
