My old Maytag washer (model 142) is giving me another hurdle to jump. I think my motor is frying. Washer starts up just fine in agitate or spin mode, runs smooth and quiet, but the motor heats up very fast, smells hot, and emits a faint swirl of smoke when I stop it. I'm not sure this is the original motor for my washer as it appears newer, has been working great until now. Mine is a GE motor with "MAYTAG 2-1807" printed on it. The GE model # is 5KH47JR33t. I have found a GE laundry machine motor, model #5KH47JR32, very close but not exact match.

Ebay has several Maytag motors listed as 201807. Is this the same as 2-1807? To confuse me even more, the 201807 motors have additional numbers. Some are 6201660-16, some are 2-1666-17, others are 2-1666-13.

Sorry for the long rant, but can you Maytag officials tell me which, if any, of these motors would be transplantable into my great old washer?
Sam

Maytag 2-1807, 201807 motor

From the information that I have listed in an old "Repair-Master" book, 2-1807 is the correct part number for a motor for a Maytag 142 washer (and many other Maytags). 2-1807 and 201807 are really the same part number; Maytag eventually replaced the dash with a zero when they stopped using hyphens in their part numbers.

Thanks. Any idea what the other numbers mean and whether these numbers are significant? 21666-13, 21666-16, etc.?
