An identical model was sold by Hoover and as such is comparatively common, but I have never seen it branded as Tricity before - I was not even aware that Tricity ventured into this sort of thing - I have always associated them with cookers, fridges & freezers. As you can see from the picture just the thing to get your tresses in perfect condition before placing the tiara on your head.
The plug on it would not have been standard issue and actually I am quite surprised it even worked being plugged into a light socket CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay

Well here's a blast from the mid 1970s - a Hygena Contour kitchen. This was pretty much the last gasp for Hygena which, for about 25 years, had been one of the major top end kitchen suppliers. It was not long after this they went bust and the name was bought up by MFI (itself now gone) to be put on their own manufactured kitchens which were not a fraction of the quality of these.
They really were rather nice, I am not mad about the harvest gold but I have very fond memories of a dark (not quite navy) blue. But at £875 BIN I think I will be popping out Ikea instead Al CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay

And the price is a lot more acceptable.
The sink unit is from the 1950s, the other cupboards are much more late 1960s or, given the colour, 1970s. The sink top ha also been replaced, originally the sink and drainer (probably double drainer) would have covered the whole of the unit below. Funny thing is that, given worktop is not that expensive they did not do all of the kitchen and also, having gone to the trouble of replacing the sink, they did not update the unit beneath it. Reply #7 has double drainboards- look deceptively larger from the front-side views vs. that top view.
After a member mentioned Elkay brand ss sinks, with drainboard(s) ...I've noticed it's easier to find ss sinks without drainboards(single or double) than it is to find with. And you don't often see them in non-commercial kitchens, but it works if you have room in your kitchen. I found a non-ribbed drainboard, but I like those ribbed drainboards better. Thanks for posting all these. allentown.craigslist.org/app/4694...).

One of the earlier examples of this very popular, for its time TOL cooker, shame its missing the handle to the grill/second oven.
I think it may have been the first double oven cooker of this type i.e. with grill/oven below hob. The Creda shown above is their "answer" to the President, but it take them around 10 years to do so. The small grill on the bottom, under the oven, is a fan heater. CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay

Although apparently run of the mill, the 60 com worktop kind of sets this kitchen apart - this type of work top was actually about 30mm thick with a deep lip on the front to give the impression of thickness

In North London these are all from the same seller - the same seller who cannot read as the "Hoover" tumble dryer is actually a Philips - see its not just in the US this happens
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Indesit-Washin... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AEG-Dishwasher... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/hoover-tumble-... By the way, the tumble dryer is identical to the first dryer I ever bought back in 1980. Its an excellent dryer, although not reversing, I use the one have occasionally and it produces very good results |

vacbear58 - Grundig was the radio console my neighbor across the street owned. A multi-band console with record player, we couldn't breath on it! It wasn't a long unit, but so beautifully crafted, sitting next to their front door as you walked into their Sears-catalog home. The sound was unforgettably wonderful.
How about the Robert's radios...always wondered if they were of any good quality or just omnipresent successes in marketing? |

Normally there are loads of these on ebay and of course when i go looking .... The term we use us "Radiogram" and for a very long time (from around the early 1930s) a radiogram was something to aspire to - long before TV Only some rather tatty examples at the moment i am afraid http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1970s-Grundig-... I remember these being on sale. I always thought they looked too much like a made over radio http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1970s-grundig-... This must be early 1960s, better condition but expensive http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Stereo... |

For a moment i had to think what you meant there - Robert S has a collection of radios? LOLOLOL Then the penny dropped :)
I really don't know much about them - they have the retro look of quality but I really cannot say if they are - I don't believe the brand has been around THAT long. Some are really expensive, some are really quite cheap |

Thanks vacbear58...Allistair, those are cool units, but the one my neighbor had is coincidentally for sale on eBay right now, here and photos below
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Grundig-Majestic... Roberts has been around for over 80 years; they must be doing something right. :-) I used to DX with an old vintage floor Zenith model(with the green tuning eye)..have a few QSL's, somewhere in storage..that's very interesting about the Radiogram, I'll check it out. Thanks Rex. |

From the mid 1950s through the 1960s we had a small variety of double oven range cookers, usually 40 - 42 inches wide as a TOL option - surprisingly though there were more of these in the 1950s than in the 1960s and eventually they more or less died out (and yes, I do remember the final iteration of the New World range in the 1970s) till the whole concept or a range cooker (i.e. two ovens side by side in a variety of arrangements - often it just seemed like two smaller cookers in one casing) in the 1990s.
With one notable exception - The Carron Capri (Electric) or Carron Cordon Bleu (Gas) and this is my favourite variation of it. Into the 1980s it got tarted up with glass doors, and some other "refinements" but I always preferred the cleaner styling of the earlier version. That said, I think that anyone paying £199.00 for this needs their head examined almost as much as the person selling this for its certainly not in what I would call good condition Al CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay

I dont think I have seen as many good condition kitchens on at one time as we currently have. 1970s rather than 1960s - I don't recognise the style but wonder if it was carpenter made as it looks very like my memory of a kicthen from the Ideal Home Book Of The Home.

Late 1950s or more likely early 1960s, this was almost a last gasp for the old solid rings which would almost universally replaced by spiral elements in the UK until the return of those hateful solid plates from Europe in the 1980s.
Creda were unusual in that they had the grill (broiler) in the main oven cavity where usually they were placed in a separate compartment above the oven. CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay |

The Pohgenpohl Kitchen with the Orange circle tiles....
Does anyone know where those tiles were from and what the design was called? My Great Gran had those on her 'kitchen' floor (kitchen being the lounge sized dining room/sitting area situated before one entered the 'back' kitchen where the cooking and washing up was done. I adored those tiles as a child and when her house was sold in 1997 the new owners ripped the lot up and scrapped them. Was talk of them being Spanish but I have no real proof as nobody knew where they were from and my grans not around to ask. |

So I"m in the local Goodwill the other day and what's sitting there on their "antiquey" counter where they put the good stuff at highly inflated prices.. A Grundig receiver and two almost shoebox size satellite speakers.. The receiver looks much like the one in the console pic (reply 21) and the speakers have the same thin wood slat grills but unfortunately one of them most of the slats are smashed. Probably from careless handling at the back of the store.. shame because I might have bought it.. They're near as rare as hens teeth around here.

Although listed as being 1959 this English Electric cooker was around from approximately 1955 - there is even a version of it in the Science Museum. I cannot help wonder if this was an inspiration of the Flair as it predates it by quite a few years - not nearly as sophisticated though. My understanding was the cupboard underneath it (although part of the unit) was a simple cupboard although the rocker switch & indicator light tend to indicate that there might have been a heating element in it.
This unit is VERY pricy, and I have seen at least one of them on ebay before CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay
