An old "commercial" Westy dryer that has a 90000 btu burner in it but only has been used by ONE family???????

What in the hell size family is using this machine? Let alone ...why?

I just bet gov't reg's would love the efficiency of this machine.

And if this is a one family unit I bet the machine they do the wash in is just as peachy!

Wow! This would be fun to use!

I don't see how this would be any less efficient than new commercial gas dryers built today. Unless you are thinking about the standing pilot light Vs. electronic pilot light. Most commercial gas dryers of this size built today are about 90,000 BTU or larger and would have the same efficiency as this unit. Gas dryers have not been redesigned like Gas Furnaces that have become more efficient over the years. In fact gas dryers of this size manufactured today have this same burner set up, blower system. Perhaps the electric drive motor's are a little more efficient.

That might have a Westinghouse label on it, but the controls, door, etc look just like the old Cissel dryers in our neighborhood laundromats. They were set up for 10 cents for 10 minutes.

It's a 30# Intl. Dryer Corp machine

I have also seen these marketed as Inertia Dynamics Corporation. Also have seen Cissels similar to this.

IDC, after doing a little web-search, was sold in 1995. Someone in the forum (link below) said IDC was known as " the Yugo of the dryer industry". mmm-mmm.

Processing Ammonia for Charcoal is NOT for "Ciss-ies"

daveamkrayoguy's profile picture
My dad's old Ammonia Plant that he'd worked at had old commercial dryers for processing the charcoal in--and Sissels like that one! Huebsch ones too...

I think I've seen 'em in Poppy Red, mostly...
