The unnamed brand dishwasher (item #2 in the first post) is a late-70s Kenmore, in Avocado Green.  It's exactly like the first 'vintage' dishwasher I ever owned!!

the Kenmore has cycle option buttons hidden behind a slide panel on the left side of the woodgrain

Paul - I'm always impressed by the many machines I have posted that are recognized by prior ownership or just some family, neighbor, or friends owned...in this case, I know the identification is positive, thanks!

Rick - THANK YOU! It looked suspiciously spartan there.

Love that 57!

I wish one of those would show up around here.  I never see any older dishwashers and I go to Estate Sales every week.  Every house I have looked at where I have been hopeful for a vintage kitchen has had the old appliances ripped out and replaced with Stainless.  In some cases they look out of place to me.

I get that people do it because they think it will improve their resale value but I sure would like to find the kind of kitchen I see posted in some of these craigslist ads.  For whatever reason they just don't seem to exist in my area but I am still hopeful.

Chacp - I don't see much either in this area, and Atlanta does have surprises now and then. I don't see many vintage kitchens here either - everyone "painted" their kitchens stainless steel, for reasons you mentioned. Coastal USA, midwest and other metro areas inland but not generally south, seem to have more of these "vintage/mid-century" (whatever you like to call it) appliances.

At least you're hustling to find these appliances, so odds are, you may just get lucky as you're always out there.

Those "real estate/design" on cable shows are the ones who are promoting the "If you don't update your kitchen, your house won't sell!" mantra. Plus they crow "You get the biggest return on your money with a kitchen remodel". They need to learn that new isn't always better.

Why should I remodel my kitchen prior to sale if it IS the way I like it.  My cabinets are better built than what ou find today.  I like my appliances.  I just need a new floor.  If someone wants to change the kitchen, then let THEM spend the money to update how they see fit.  I don't like open concept kitchens.  My kitchen is nicely separated fro entertaining area.  It's also a load bearing wall.  Again, let them deal with the headache, not me!!
