I had that exact same range in my very first college apartment fall of 1974, but mine was in coppertone.  The burner knobs were not infinite/variable control, but knotched to correspond with the comparable GE pushbutton panels.  The apartments were built in the 1950s as dorms and converted to apartments with kitchens in the mid to late 1960s.

That's the exact Hotpoint range by buddy Jay has in his condo. It's original to the building's construction in '72.
