30" GE range in avocado, with an usual console. Appears to be using components from the Mark 27 product line instead of the usual upswept top and higher controls.

Knoxville. $60

It is a slide in that is meant to give the impression of a drop in. It is early 70s. Some of the Mark 27s had a similar backsplash. Similar ranges were seen in apartments in Atlanta.

What's REALLY Unusual Is....

....That for all the BOL-ness of the rest of the range's features, its oven window has the die-cast "luxury" frame once exclusive to GE's TOL ranges and wall ovens.

Very strange, that.

Must be an attempt to attract the type of buyer wanting that elegant look, and the high-line window treatment in this particular unit seemed to be the best way to do it...

GE seemed notable for putting at least one unique, eye-catching feature in at least one model, in what would be an otherwise bland line-up in its products... Though, not that the sales of such even without, were ever blasé...

And, you know, if that was builder model, it could probably be ordered without the window trim or even without the window in the oven door, just depending on how much the builder wanted to dress it up or down. With the appliance outlet, it was around, but maybe before the time GE went to infinite controls so, being lower end, it had push buttons. A friend had an apartment in Riviera Gardens on Buford Highway, right near North Druid Hills Rd., for you former Atlantans, that had the 24" GE cooktop with the rotary 5 heat switches. The dials were black with an arrow, I think and the tip of the arrow was at the OFF position. The heat markings were printed on or imprinted or cast into the Bakelite so I think the point of the arrow was between HI and WM and at the time, I think that was the only GE model outside of the 21" apartment range that used rotary 5 heat switches.
