I guess it was a good idea, but most people have their favorite candy recipes as well as a proven pan in which to make them because the shape and weight of the pan is very important to the finished product. The tendency for uneven heating in a microwave and the trickiness of sugar cookery in general probably made this field of microwave cookery something that only the most dedicated of nukers were willing to explore. I would never temp fate by trying to deal with boiling sugar syrup in a piece of Pyrex and I am not too sure I would want to use Coring Ware for the job either with the way everything sticks to it. I spray the pan I use with no stick cooking spray as well as the bowl and paddle and get almost a 100% yield when I make candy.

We had a chain of small stores here in the late 70s and early 80s called something like Microwave Cooking, etc. It was in the days before prices fell and they sold a lot of Amanas. I could imagine them doing demos with this candy-making kit. They also sold those expensive Heller glass cooking vessels which can be seen by tabbing down to the second picture at the link provided.
