Gas.  The location is remote to majority of the group but these presumably are rare ... so perhaps someone with a big hankering for one would want to go the distance.  Has been listed for a few months, asking price was originally either $300 or $250, reduced a couple times to the current $175.  It kinda matches my Neppy TL but I can't do gas.

Looks to be in nice shape.

Is the upper cabinet  heated by gas, or only the tumbler?  Does it require two vents? If one vent  tube, does the dryer have to be powered up to run the vent blower for the upper drying cabinet?  Thanks

I have a service manual but some details aren't quite clear ... helps to have a unit to examine, I imagine.

There's one exhaust duct at the rear, as standard for the lower tumble dryer.

The upper cabinet has a separate blower and an electric heater/steamer unit with water jug.  It can be operated in heat-only mode or heat/steam.  Choice of Low (140°F) or Ex Low (110°F) temps.  Also has an Add Fragrance option.  The instructions state only tap water in the reservoir.  A separate "caddy" is for a dryer sheet so presumably that's the source of fragrance, maybe there's a duct-door that opens with Add Fragrance to pass airflow through the sheet.  There's a vague reference that it exhausts out of the upper door.  Specifications state the airflow rate is 80 CFM for the upper cabinet (170 CFM for the tumbler dryer section).

Upper cabinet and lower tumbler can be run separately or simultaneously.

Thanks Glenn!  I remember when they were $999.99.  I always liked them, also have always had overhead cabinets in our utility rooms.  I know more now.  Thanks again.

That left hand cabinet door looks like it's been beat up quite a bit. I see a couole of crease marks and a couple of dings in the one pic.

Maybe, but could also be reflections and there are certainly low-res and .jpg artifacts.  The arc/crease is a design on the doors.  It's mirrored on the right-side door but lighting in the pic doesn't show that very well.  Here's another pic I found that shows it more clearly.

There was one of these at the ReStore here for a few months.  I never bothered to check the price.  I have a feeling they junked it due to lack of interest.

Nate and I were just talking about these models last night.  There is a serious NLA parts issue because Whirlpool wasted no time in putting the kibosh on drying cabinets after acquiring Maytag.

P.S.

Glenn, that sounds like an uncomfortable situation.  Maybe you should cut back on the Bean-O.  ;-)

The upper cabinet is electric and low enough airflow that it's vented into the room.

The gas model is ideal for this dryer platform as you can use both the upper drying function (115 volt electric) and the lower gas-heated tumbler at the same time without loss of speed. In the electric model, the lower heating element wattage was reduced when using the cabinet heater simultaneously, reducing the speed of both units.

I thought this was a great bit of engineering for those with an extraordinary amount of flat-dry items. The hanging bar at the top of the cabinet moved back and forth slightly to prevent stiffness.

I stand corrected on the crease mark. I'm not sure about the couple of dings marks in the door though. Possibly from opening the door into something.....along the bottom edge of the left hand door and a couple of inches below the top of the arc.

Maybe it's some kind of reflection.

It is a top and bottom, industrial type dryer. Which means no dry cleaning anymore. Will include the shelves for shoes, hats, etc, but no hangers. Works amazing. Will include the gas connection pieces, but not the duct. Asking $300 obo. The dryer is over $1100 brand new.
