It's Too Bad....

About the color and the Way Out West factor - that's the vintage I'm looking for.

Thanks, Phil - you DO know what I like!

that Sandy is still on the hunt for this Amana. Especially living in "Amana Country" :D These crop up out here ALL the time, it seems....

I have looked alot for this Amana - you may see alot of them that are close to what he wants, Allen - but it must have the outer decorative(embossed or stamped, however it's described) metal trim.

Oh well, like everything around here ...in time, my little pretty and your dog too(it's Halloween, why not?)

It's Just That....

These are older units, and so I'm looking for a survivor. And yes, I'm being a little picky, because I don't want to give up and just go with a new box. When you have a kitchen full of vintage, new sticks out like a sore thumb - not that I've been able to avoid it altogether.

A new fridge with textured surfaces, white plastic handles, etc. would be pretty awful, as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks to everyone who is keeping an eye out!

Sandy - textured surfaces enhance the cheapness. :-) lol

Well....

....The other thing I'm trying to avoid is Ye Olde Fayke Woode Graine. It was hugely popular with appliance stylists in the years just after the box in your photo was made, so it's hard to find workable '70s units without it.

You would be absolutely amazed how much Ye Olde Fayke Woode Graine sticks out in a house that doesn't have any. Your eye is drawn to it like a car crash - you don't want to look, but you do.

What?! No wood grain? You gotta have wood grain, especially between the recessed door handles and internal plastic containers, so you know it's (ready?)

VINTAGE! YAAY!
