I sent the seller an e-mail about 30 mins ago.   But I'll have to wait and see if I get a response.

I'm also on the phone with Andy (RCD) right now and he is in the area!

Travis, I had to move from Reno to The Bay Area and live right near this. If you don't go for this, I sure will but do not wish to cut you off! Let me know!

Drew,

I have been in contact with the owner. It's been paid for. I am looking at shipment options. This was happening at the expense of my sleep last night.

I am sorry, I have never been able to even see a combo, let alone buy one, let alone a Maytag. How big are they and how much do they weigh?

Congratulations Travis! I would be like you - never saw a combo, let alone a Maytag, except for any shown here in web pages. Hope it ships well. Yay!

Yet another Maytag combo eludes the Maytagman. Someday. That's what I get for watching the EAST bay CL, not the WHOLE Bay Area CL! Lol!

I'm jazzed for you, Travis! You have joined a very exclusive club. I'm not sure how many exist in the club, let alone exist. They are huge and heavy. Make sure it is crated and padded well with insurance to boot! We hope to see plenty of pictures!

Congratulations Travis, By my count there are 7 MT combos known to exist at this time, three are in museums and four will now be in private collectors hands. I had one of these 30+ years ago and did a lot of work on it, if you have any questions about it get in touch.

Post# 797761 , Reply# 18   12/6/2014 at 18:49 (3,437 days old) by Travis ()

Thanks John,

I will have plenty of questions. I spoke to the seller today. She's aware they were "recalled". It was plucked out of a basement by a friend and has sat in her warehouse for years. She's like us, won't send it to the scrapper. I thanked her for making it available and not killing it. I have never put a combo on my list of wants, since they're so uncommon. Normally the Bendix turns my head, but someone in Boston is hogging all of them.

This on is in a warehouse with a loading dock! No weird basement steps or other difficulties to deal with. Christmas came early.

Well Travis I never !

I have been collecting them for 30 YEARS so I do have a jump on most of you. But I have given 2 away to good friends-- so-- not so many here anymore, they are LARGE and tend to get paperweightish if not used!

Congratulations!

I got my first Duomatic in 1969. My parents would not let me have it at home even though I had put a 220 volt outlet in the basement for the big Whirlpool Combo I got from another family, but the doctor's family where I spent a lot of time had space in their laundry room and a free 240 volt outlet since they had a gas dryer so they allowed me to use Brenda Bendix there for a few years. After that, I stored her under the basement stairs at home. When I got my first house, the two things my parents wanted out of their house were the piano and the Duomatic.

...but I think Lisa Douglas had one of these Maytag combos on "Green Acres." Just remember the washing machine was a "6"

After a failed attempt at shipping, the combo is on the way! I am told it will be here this weekend. Now the hard part, making room.

The combo has arrived!

Here we are, stuck in the garage for now. I need to find some real men to move it into the house. Sorry for the lack of better pictures.

for it's safe arrival!!!

WOW what a beauty!!!

does the upper control panel light up?? i seen the chrome divider above the timer knob.

and also, if i'm not mistaken, does the control panel have the same shape as the "new generation" maytags from 1966-1979?? it looks to have the same kick-out at the very bottom of the control panel.

keep us posted travis!!
(i'm very curious)

again CONGRATULATIONS!!!

:o)
