Hi Phil, your SS shaft in the wash-arm-support came loose and wore the head off the impeller screw. You may be able to take a dremel type tool and cut a slot in what is left of the screw and turn it out with a flat blade screw driver, but it looks like you have a very tired pump assembly and you may be better off finding a low use KA KD18-20 DW for parts and taking the complete pump assembly out of it and putting a new seal in it and installing it in your DW.

Phil, John hit the screw right on the head! If you can't find a donor machine (any Kitchenaid 18,19,or 20 series machine pump will go right into your machine,) I know John and I both have pumps that we will be willing to ship out to you at a reasonable cost. |

I think was KitchenAid's Best machine.
Keep it going. I have an KDS 18 and a KDS 20. Just can't beat the quality and construction of those older machines. Glad to hear your wife is all for repairing it and not wanting something new and stainless. I have a few extra spare random parts. Please feel free to ask. |
