Hey,

I've been working on the 68 Kenmore 800 dryer recently and noticed that what appears to be weather seal around where the chute attaches to the bulkhead has really deteriorated. Do I have to use the whirlpool seal on this? I have some closed cell around that I used on the doors and to reinforce the seal on the dishwasher. Would that work ok for this application? Thanks!

I know the seal is cheap enough, I just was curious if I could use what I had.

I have various 50's and early 60's dryers where I used closed cell foam wherever something had worn---lots of places. It seems to do the trick for me, many machines, lots of use, good performance once you re-assemble everything and check.

I've used closed-cell foam stripping of suitable widths on refurbs.

Thanks fellas. Perhaps it was a dumb question, but what was there was so deteriorated that I wasn't 100% sure.
