Hey guys,

I won this fabtastic philips series 90 elite 1000rpm washing machine from ebay and with help from my amazing chums Paul & Rob (MatchboxPaul & aquarius1984) who kindly collected the machine from Cheshire and brought it to me this weekend! Major thanks boys!

My parents best friends had the 900rpm version in white with matching dryer which I used too sit on infront of for many a happy hour!

So the machine is fully working and the bearings are sound. It has been serving as my main machine for a week until I take delivery of a brand new AEG pair on Friday!

The machine has variable spin from 120rpm-1000rpm & temperature from cold to 95deg. Half load button and short wash button which when combined with number 8 turns it into a short wash ehich relies on incoming hot water much like hotpoint 95 series economy button.

So operationally:

Cottons cycles fill into the seal followed by a high level cool down and 5 high level rinses! It only spins after the 3rd rinse and final spin.

The machine does a fast distribution drain but nothing like the world famous spin drain!

Some pics below!

Darren

Congratulations! Finding a machine from one's youth is always good. Especially when it's a Philips! :-) I think the famous spin drain is only to be found on machines with the chrome dials. The newer spin cycle was introduced with the new design. I was lucky in 1982 to get the last toploader with chrome dials. The new ones were already on display, the last old model was in the shop window on sale. Loved that spin drain immediately!

Nevertheless looking forward to a video of this machine, after all it's a Philips!

And congratulations with the purchase of the new AEG set!

Cheers Louis! Yes as fun as the spin-drain would have been to have it's still an excellent machine :-)

Now I'm extremely excited for my new AEGs tomorrow!
