how hard would it be to make these today? With outwardly identical cabinets and knobs but with some currently manufactured under the hood components?

They look like new LGs would have looked had they been in business that long ago. My first view of these immediately reminded me of my WT1101CW.

Neat!  I have the 1951 versions (washer's running, but the dryer needs a total restoration) - I hope you can save them Anthony!!

The washer looks like my parents' first automatic. It had the RotoSwirl agitator and the sudssaver. After the rinse fill, there would be an air bubble under sheets and the RotoSwirl could not pull them under unless you worked out the air bubble from under the sheets.

1952's

Would love to see "money shots" of each of these machines!

For the inside of the dryer, you can look in any KM dryer up until the early 60s and see the same drum, although some of the drums in the early electric models had a blanket of insulation wrapped around the outside of the drum, but you could not tell that from the inside of the drum.

I'm not sure what happened to these machines, I think the guy wanted me to appraise them, anyway he was less than honest. Really pisses me off.

I feel your pain!

That guy in Fort Wayne wouldn't sell me the dryer I wanted recently because he preferred to go with a local buyer, even when I offered him more than ask before the other buyer stepped in!
