I finally got the laundry sink and plumbing all hooked up in my shed. Yesterday I got Gram's old Maytag out of the basement and into the shed. 3 or 4 years ago I used it and it ran fine. I plugged it in and the motor just buzzed and kept tripping the breaker. I thought because I had to put it on its side to get it in the door opening, that may have something to do with it, so I waited and tried it again today and same thing. I cant move the agitator right or left but it removes easily. I tried moving the one pulley you can get your hands around and I cant budge it either. Am I doomed to have to rebuild it?

Could it be the starter on the motor that needs attention. Does is smoke? |

I was hoping Larry, that it was something simple not a major teardown that I dont want to do. I cant understand that it worked fine before and now will not, even though its been in a heated basement all this time and now that I finally have it where I can use it during the warmer months it wont run. Oh well, I am not going to loose sleep over it.

A machine can break any time. It doesn't matter if it ran yesterday or 10 years ago. One day you go to use something, and it won't work. Oh the Betrayal these machines can do to us! Let me know if you need any help. |
