Looks like its from the 80s, but can not tell if its BD or a DD model. Is there any way to find out?

It looks like a Whirlpool belt drive model. The wider cabinet with the space on either side of the lid is usually a dead giveaway to belt or direct drive.

I'd vote for belt drive. It took me a second because the left side of the cabinet next to the lid looked more narrow than the right, until I realized there is a white board overlapping the edge of the washer.

I would definitely lean towards that being a belt drive machine. The size of the washer lid on the top with that wide of a skirt around it leads me to think that.

The direct drive machines lids take up more of the top of the machine.

Jamie that is a wonderful find!

I know I am silly in saying....but I loved the way these machines smelled when new while running a few loads back to back.

Where in the world did you find such a great machine!

Congratulations!  You will have fun with this one.

Jamie,

That's a great looking machine! Where in the world did you find such a great find? For a machine that is that age to be in that condition is highly unusual. How did you get so lucky?

New Belt Drive

One of the engineers I worked with (he recently retired) bought it from work (Whirlpool) for his wife. She refused to use it because it didn't have a dual action agitator and so the machine sat in his garage until... Well... I guess it was actually mid-May... He offered the machine to me as he was otherwise going to recycle it. I jumped on the opportunity naturally! Until I get proper plumbing run in the basement for the collection, it will sit in front of the cement double sink next to my daily driver. There are certainly some awesome perks working in Fabric Care at Whirlpool when you're a washer collector!

Can you take more pics of it? And the cycle chart on the back? I have a soft spot for belt drives. I had one as daily driver before the Speed Queen took its place.
