they won't work unless the incandescent bulb nearby is working properly, but they RARELY burn out .............. |

These lamps are wired in series with a 40w appliance bulb....and you're right, usually it's the appliance bulb that burns out! Mark |

Thanks Rich! I'm not sure if it's the same bulb ot not. It has a c-9 base (like the large outdoor Christmas light) and is round like an old type flash bulb. Mark |

Puritron air purifiers are loaded with those bulbs, I've found a couple of them at thrift stores and estate sales, one was just a convection type that hung on a wall that netted 8 bulbs and the puritron I found was a double version of this (link) ad that had four in it.
