Seller claims it's a 1976, I'm guessing maybe a year or two later, either way if you like harvest you'll love this one!

These were trouble when new and probably did not age gracefully. I wonder how it escaped the ravages of Katrina. John said that the magnetron for the lower oven was burned up each time the oven was self cleaned so if anyone gets it, don't use the self clean feature in the oven.

New Litton Range

combo52's profile picture

This model does not have the Micro-Combination lower oven, Tom and I rescued a similar Litton range that not only has a top MWO but also has a Micro-Combination lower oven, I am sure it was the only cooking appliance to have TWO MWOs in one appliance ever, we have it at the museums MW Cooking kitchen.

Yes Tom is correct, Litton built a terrible conventional range, and their combination oven was a repairman's dream.

I left the Litton in New Orleans with the sale of our last house.  Our house did not flood from rising water. We had a tree in the house (semi flood) with the daily rain almost every day at 3or 4 pm.  My Aunt purchased this exact one in I believe 1982.  I inherited it when she did  a kitchen renovation in about 1995.  She always said, " You ended up with the good oven".   I was not impressed with cooktop, the lower SC oven was spot on temp, closed door broiling with the catalytic smoke system, it's SC feature worked great. Very insulated. but the top did get very hot when self cleaning.  I would of brought it but this house had gas stove connections.  The one we had was almond.  I think it might of been older than 1982 she bought it from a now long out of business NOLA furniture store.

To be honest, the TOP MW worked but was clunky.. We had a newer MW with the turn table.  We used the top microwave to keep our stash of Leidenheimer French bread. (perfect breadbox) .

Before we put the NOLA house on the market I cleaned it really well with 409, it shined like a new penney.

Don't forget the touch control Amana hi-lo range with the micro-thermal lower oven and the microwave upper oven and the normal cooktop. When we found the brown Radar Range Plus behind Discount Appliance, you stripped the white panels, cooktop and window door from the hi-lo Amana. We converted the range to white in the bed of your pickup truck, made a few modifications and drove it up to my house.

Hi Tom, That Amana only had a thermal oven on top, we still have a customer in Greenbelt that has one of these cool ranges.
