Hi everyone,

Our state nightly news here in Queensland Australia do a regular 'Flashback' story on Sunday nights.

The reporter has been looking at various household appliances, so I contacted them to find out if they were going to do a story on the washing machine. Below is the result of the filming, focussed on the evolution of the washing machine from washboard, to wringer to automatic and (for Australia) how the 1960's was a real boom period for manufacturing in Australia.

My 2nd TV story for a children's show on another channel is due to air next Tuesday March 8.

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers
Leon

Great Leon! I always wish they spent more time showing each of the machines but they still did great coverage! I love the Simpson all pushbutton!

It was an excellent job. David was wrong, you weren't camp at all :)

It's great to see how all your effort pays off.

Leon, Thanks for sharing!  You and Your machines shined.  Sobering fact the newscaster brought up about how many have never had the resources to enjoy  Automatic washing.  Congratulations.

That was just Wonderful

You were very "at home" and relaxed.

Your collection is beautiful. Congratulations Leon.

And Yes Bob, "We" all are getting a lot of Media Attention lately.

I also loved the part about there is no manufacturing going on anymore.

STUPENDOUS - you're a natural!

And to have Dame Edna on your show - HOLA !!!

Your collection shows off beautifully too. Together we are conquering the world with the love of washing !!

He makes an interesting point I didn't think of - still around the world most people have never used a washing machine--- we need to change that.

Great news item Leon! That turned out well. And you got more time on air than Dame Edna Average! You're above average so to speak! ;-)

We may have to hire you as our spokesman for the August 2016 International Wash-In here in Beltsville Maryland.

Your collection looks great and all your acting classes have paid off very well.

What a great spot Leon! Your collection looks fantastic!
It was also great to see the vintage commercial clips in such great shape. Did your provide the news clips, or did the television station find them?
Thanks for the link!

That's excellent Leon! A bit short, but still sweet nonetheless. Hopefully, the exposure will lead to some more good "Barn Finds" for you.
But I reckon the next item on the Museum's wish-list should actually be some of that magnificently-out-there green wallpaper on Dame Edna's walls! It was probably pushing (well, shoving really) the boundaries of style and taste even back then when the ad was made, but heck - what goes round comes round (so they say...) T'would really complete the ambience of the garage, especially if you could get it on to the fronts of some of your overhead cupboards...
Please make sure you post a link to the other story next Tuesday!

Best Wishes,
WishyWashy.

Leon

That was a great video of your collection and the evolution of the automatic washer in Australia.

Glad to see another Asian interested in washers like myself. Will you be in San Francisco when in California?
