Hi@All!
Last saturday,we had a no planned WashIn in Gladbeck with Mike and Berthold at Mike´s house!Berthold found his long expected dream machine,a Matura Compact sl from 1971 near Gladbeck and Mike, who lives there picked it up for him!And what a surprise....the machine was declared as broken, but only an old sock plugged the pump! After a short"operation",everything works fine like new!
Here a few pictures of the proud new ownwer Berthold with his Matura,Mike and me!

We also run Mikes new swiss made V-Zug and his new chinese compact models!

Even the old Bosch from the mid-60ies and his Bauknecht dryer gave us a short introduction!

Greetings from Germany,

Thomas(and for sure Berthold and Mike).

Guy's,

Greetings! Guten tag! Those are some handsome machines you have there! I like the Philips, and the Bauknecht aint bad either. Teasers!
Don't tempt a Yankee who has been dying to visit Deutschland!! I wish it were possible just now.
I have an extensive Marklin ho collection, so Goppingen, and Hamburg's Miniatur Wunderland have to also be on my itinerary. A Eurorail pass and an ICE make it all possible.
Perhaps when hubby retires. He wants to see London, Paris, CH (Canton of Helvetica) and Italy also. I want to go through the Chunnel.

Wow it looks like a great time for all!   Wash-in's, impromptu or not, are so much fun!

Yes that yellow washer is very cute!   Is that the Chinese compact?   Just how big (or small) is it and what is the capacity?

I'd love to see more photos and get more info about that Bosch combo!

Cheers!

Kevin

Looks like you guys had fun! I just congratulated Berthold with the Matura. He sure likes his Maturas and actually what is there not to like about them.

That Bosch combo is wonderful. The keyplates of that machine are bigger than the keyplates on the Hoover Keymatic. There were washing machines too with those keyplates, an aunt had one with a blue control panel. We had a similar machine, but not with a keyplate, but only with three controls. Here's a picture of one of those, taken from the internet.

Wonderful collection, I would love to know more about that yellow machine. Is that one of the Chinese machines you mentioned?

BTW, I found that same picture of the combo on my computer. Apparently I saved it from the Waschmaschinen-forum archives. It comes from a 1969 brochure. But that must have been the last year or so of those machines. The blue control panel is a bit older, our machine was from 1965 or 1966.

The yellow chinese machine fits a small 3 kg load,Mike has one in yellow and one in blue color! They have a liquid detergent dispenser in the frontload door inside the window glass! There is no pump to empty the machine, just a valve,so You have to keep the operating level of the machine above the sink! They spin with 700 rpm.
The old Bosch was a pretty expensive washer/dryer combo in the 60ies.They had a big capacity of 6 kg washing/3 kg drying, which was not usual for a generation of washing machines when they supposed to load a maximum of 4 kg(dry weight)! This machine has a delayed start option and a timer for the dryer up to 90 minutes. The washing programmes are selected by a keyplate and there are 2 detergent dispensers for pre-and mainwash!Since then,Bosch is still known as a high quality brand in Germany!

Looks like another fab time had with your new to you washing machines, the slimline Matura looks very robust and with the sleek 70` hi-fi style control panel. Is there any license tie up with the Bosch washer Dryer and the Bendix Giro series do we know because they look almost identical in shape? Looking forward to seeing videos of the latest Zug, I do like the touch control screen.

Nowthen boys, please explain the fab Purple 70`s Hotpoint / GE / other? tumble dryer? was it built in Germany or exported?

Happy Washing!!

Great pics showing a great time.  I just love those compact washers too, so fun.

Jon, we could be entertained for hours and hours  - maybe a month traveling from the UK across Europe on a wash-in tour.

AW goes global, who's in?

Bosch vs Bendix

foraloysius's profile picture
Interesting observation Mike, they have some similarities in their appearance, but technically they are very different. Perhaps Bosch was inspired by the Bendix machines?

Purple Dryer

Hi all

Spotted the purple dryer too Mike! I'm guessing it is branded Faure or GEC - the liberator dryer was exported under a number of brand names at that time.

Maybe there are more pics to come!

David
