Sounds like the freezer just needs a new gasket or latch adjustment.  Great item for lovers of pink on pink.

It's been almost six months since I put the new gasket on my '57's freezer door and frost accumulation has still only reached a minimally intrusive level.

Hello rp2813!
I have a 1956 Hotpoint refridgerator, with the original gasket for the freezer. Where did you find a new one? That would solve plenty of issues--
Thanks
Mark

Mark, I got the exact Gem Line replacement gasket from Modern Parts in Parma a few years ago.  It wasn't cheap, but with the old gasket I had major frost building up within a week of defrosting, so the new one was well worth it.   Had I known the results would be so fantastic, I wouldn't have waited so long to install it.

You should give Modern a try.  Last I heard, relatives have kept the business going since Larry's passing a year or two ago.
