This washer & dryers set has to be the best looking Norge set ever made. It is a year newer than the set my parents had and is two speed. I have had a dryer like this one, but have never even seen the matching washer. The dryer was really flashy looking, with chrome and a high console panel where the timer is and lights up. The washer would be the same. Of ALL Norge sets, this would definitely be my pick! It also had the regular Norge agitator, before they started with all the lint filter built into the agitator business. Those old solid tub Norge machines would wash like nothing else of that time! The agitator covered nearly the entire bottom of the tub and could not help but move the clothes around, even when it was overloaded. So you got clean clothes ALL the time! It was also the last year for the timeline timers on the washers too. That was a fabulous looking machine!!! I think they rival Frigidaire of the same vintage!

That is a nice looking and commanding set. However, I don't think I recall a Norge from that era that was not a Burpilator. Anyway, that would be a great set to have in any collection. Closest one I know of is the Dispensomat that Jimmy used to have.

I believe this is the washer (and dryer?) that Rick (rickr) found in Indiana. It was pretty rough but I think he had a donor machine for parts. '57 was a beautiful year for Norge.

These Norges are indeed beautiful!  I've seen them featured in old kitchen design magazines as 'prop'  machines for one's automatic home laundry.  Collection limit be damned, I'd jump if a set a like this turns up!!

Hmmm... Maybe my allegiance to GE is switching to Norge...  LOL
