POD today is a Blackstone washer with an interesting temperature control. One knob to control wash/rinse combinations. One setting is Cold Wash/Warm Rinse on the lower left part of the control. It seems rather odd to me... One wonders if they didn't get a really good deal on the 6 position control knob...

Clipping from a small chunk of the POD illustrating this:

Cold wash-warm rinse-sounds odd to me-why would you want this?

Today's POD makes two in a row. Must have been popular.

The Hotpoint probably overrides and rinses in cold water if the wash temp is set to cold regardless of what the rise temp is set to. Our old 59 GE rinsed in cold if the wash temp toggle switch was set to cold even if the rinse toggle was set to warm.

I wondered about the General Electric toggle switches (& later push-button) for wash & rinse, and was surprised it wasn't asked about before Reply #3 came along, hinting...

Could that have been for fabric dyeing?  I've never tried that myself, but I remember seeing ads for Rit or Tintex in vintage magazines pushing that one could dye fabrics in the automatic washer...
