Unfortunately neither type seal will last a really long time on a pitted-corroded agitator shaft.
The lip type seal is the proper OEM part for this washer, Maytag made this improvement many years ago before Whirlpool bought MT.
Your best bet is to either just put it together and see how long it lasts or replace the transmission with a new or good used one, but in either event this washer is certainly not going to last another 36 years. |

Would the top trans assy. no. 200813 or 2-813 part solve this problem?? |

OK-- If you want to mess around with a badly pitted shaft go to ebay and enter A4298 seal. |
