Looks like a scene from Laugh In from the 60's.

My sister had those flowers appliqued all over her yellow '56 Chevy.

I had one of those, sans the flower-power motif. It had the little "whirly-gig" thingy on the end of one spray-arm. Was a very good dishwasher.

I watched a doc.

last night on msnbc about the 60's cool genera. It featured flower power, fashion, Woodstock, etc., and the VW Beetle as a culture statement by young people.
Designed during the totalitarian German 3rd. reich, but made it's way to America and sold like crazy. Well, I guess it would at a low price. It also sipped gas.
Young people could say I'm different, and more sensible than my parents large wide heavy car. It also provided an affordable choice as a second car for many families.
A remarkable 40 year run with several tweaks (longer in Mexico) until replaced by the 1976 Rabbit.
While Tappan didn't offer flower power styled appliances, their magazine adds did have model with the fashion. They may have offered custom design service, as Whirlpool, Sears, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Admiral did though.

You can see her knees in the middle of the flowers.

I remember an spoof on the ad for the Beetle in Mad with a picture that looked like a genuine VW ad, but with text that went something like, If Teddy Kennedy had been driving a Volkswagon, he'd be president.
