Looks like they are ashamed to show the ovens, maybe.

"Sears Classic" gas range... aka Tappan 400?

Never saw this classy dame before. Looking 'minty' in Cincinnati! Is this showroom-new?
Who really manufactured these?

No, it's not

This is a Roper-made POS. They are so cheap that they rattle when you walk across the floor. They use no top heat in baking so performance suffers. Having the cooktop pulled out to use makes the storage beneath it inconvenient to access. Enjoy the pictures. They will not disappoint like the actual stove would.

40" Roper Built Hi Oven Gas Range

combo52's profile picture
This is in great condition, the main reason why is it actually had electronic Ignition so there is no corrosion damage in the ovens and under the Cook-Top from constant burning pilots.

While it is true that the build quality was not the best of Roper ranges I would still rate it equal to the quality of a Tappan Hi-Oven gas range.

I would love to have this excellent condition rare EI gas range for the museum.

I remember when Sears started Gas ranges built Roper with EI around 1970, most people never gave the idea a 2nd look as NG was still so cheap, now no one in their right mind would want a gas range in their kitchen with a bunch of little fires burning all the time, LOL.

Similar design?

Looks like a similar range, albeit possibly smaller, featured in this 1960s RCA Whirlpool booklet.

Similar design, Yes good eye Barry, WPs hi-oven ranges were made by Roper as well during this time period.
