A 2 bedroom in very good shape, located in Sheffield, AL (NW Alabama on the river - one of the 'quad cities').

For some reason I am unable to post a link to this listing.  I found it on trulia.com, the address is 1406 E 34th Street, Sheffield, AL  35660.  Price is $69,000.

Kevin,

Yes, Lustrons were all-metal (completely, totally) homes, manufactured in the late 1940's.  They were manufactured in what had been the Tucker automobile plant in Cicero, IL.  This one was the two-bedroom Westchester model.
Very cool construction.  Porcelain-enameled panels exterior (roof and sidewalls); baked-enamel panels interior (ceilings and walls).

here in the Binghamton area, in great condition. The panels seem to hold up very well!

Wow; just wow!

That one in the listing shown by pulltostart is in great condition. It could very well be a modern building for all I could tell!

What I wonder is about acoustics? If all the panels are sheet metal, I hope they have insulated it in such a way as to muffle the otherwise thin-sounding walls.

Either way, it's a thing of beauty.

Here's one of the Lustrons in Knoxville, which has been modified with some Jetsons touches as well as a sympathetic addition.

I've been within a few blocks of this house in Sheffield numerous times, as I usually take the Jackson Hwy. (old US 43) over through Tuscumbia to get to Natchez Trace on my way to MS. I'll try to remember to go down that street the next time I'm down that way.

There was a yellow Lustron in Centerville, OH on St. Rt. 725, but it has been painted orange the last couple years.
