hello to all aw members,

I just wanted to say that I am very grateful to all aw members on the site since joining this site I have learn a few things now when I do laundry I use hot water sometime and mostly leave the washer on the warm water wash temp and leave the washer door open till fully dry, but I do have some concern my brother and my sister in law bough when they purchase there home the maytag bravo washer dryer set model with wash plate and its my sister in law that do the laundry on sunday I was helping my brother and sister in law can some tomatos my sister in law had some laundry to do she wash her clothes and my brother clothes in cold water (tap cold to be precise)and never leave the washer lid open after doing laundry I even explain to my brother and my sister in law that sometime they should wash there clothes using warm or hot water so not bothering to explain to them but I am surprise by now that that there washer is not full of mildew or smell for not washing in hot water.

I wonder if that is a problem in more humid climates. I always leave the washer door open to avoid rust around the inside of the lid.

Run a dehumidifier

I run a dehumidifier in the laundry area that's connected to the laundry drain. I have a Whynter RPD-503SP but some folks prefer Frigidaire and most humidifiers will work well enough. Sizing at 50 pints works well in my small space if you have a larger space there are larger models. There are also some wall mount dehumidifier options.

Yes, I am surprised their machine does not smell. There is likely mildew where it cannot yet be seen. Eventually the evidence will show up. Too bad they didn't listen to you. Keep talking to them.

a big thank you to you bobbie if on that day my sister in law would of ask me to start the washer for her I would of set it to a warm water wash even if clothes says on the care label cold water wash only is a little warm or hot water harmful to clothe I do not think so
