Hello all,

I have a 83 Kenmore washer apart that has a very rusty centerpost. I will clean it up as much as I can and apply Por 15 and some epoxy but would like to repair it more permanently if possible. I looked up the part and number online on Sears parts.com.
I'm hoping that someone out there with a parts machine or spare will answer me. Item number 5 in the pic.... it's NLA
Any other suggestions?
Thank you!!

We install a thin Stainless Tube over the outside of the center post, it will last forever.

Just to say, the local long-closed Whirlpool dealer had a NIB baseplate when the owner's son took me through the building in 2007.  I don't know the part number.  He had an estate sale there a couple years ago after his mother died.  I don't recall that item being where I saw it previously so he may have kept it or has used it for a machine refurb.

Hey John, can you give us some details regarding the dimensions?

SS Sleeving The Outside Of A WP Washers Center-post

Hi Eugene, Smitty ordered about 6 feet of thin walled aircraft grade SS tubing that just fit over the old CP, he tack welded it in place. It was thin enough that you could even install the same rubber CP grommet right over the SS sleeve, we did four machines with what he ordered.

Any photos?

I thank you for replying to this thread. Any photos of the work? What about the tube diameter and source? Knowing that you did 4 machines with it is confidence building. THANK YOU.
Ps- I had sent you an email earlier today.
