Would this GE Filter- Flo set be worth grabbing? About hour drive for me one way.

I understand the Filter-Flo washes very well but I've also read about about leaking transmissions, rusty tubs and that press board rear panel-ugh!

Price is right but it would be for my friend to replace her Speed Queen so I don't need a project. However, they have pets and cast iron drain pipes so the filtering abilities would be nice.

My family had a 1969 GE Filter-Flo set when I was very young. (turquoise agitator as I recall) the washer died an early death for reasons unknown to me (trans issues I think). Plus, we had a septic system at the time which couldn't handle the Filter Flo water usage.

for the most part, this one doesn't show signs on that rear panel, which you would be thankful for that it's there if THERE was an issue with the tranny...and/or pump...

if anything, before purchase, take a screwdriver and pop that top first...have a look around....

as in this other one that's available.....claims it needs a pump, which could be true, that back panel is telling you something is wrong, pump or tranny....oil usually shows up darker, so it may be a pump issue
