According to this article, Dixie bought Magic Chef, continuing to use the Magic Chef name, and was bought out by Maytag in 1986. Maytag had bought Hardwick, also located in Cleveland, Tennessee, in 1982.
So Dixie didn’t go out of business, and the factory was in use until Whirlpool built a new one a few miles away in 2010. It doesn’t say when the Dixie name was phased out. CLICK HERE TO GO TO Supersuds's LINK |
