After speaking with the seller a week ago, I picked these up yesterday. Thomas found them on FB and forwarded me the link (THANKS Thomas!). They are the same Touchmatic series as the other pair I recently acquired, but this time with stainless steel cabinets (W1215 & T1415). The best part however, is I paid $100 for the pair!
I bought them from the original owners and as such still had the shipping braces (rods) for the washer, the wrench for them, plus some caps and other bits for the dryer. The nice thing is they were well taken care of and pretty clean overall!

Congrats Kevin! Beautiful set.
I wonder why other manufacturers (other than SQ) never offered washers and dryers in stainless? Even near BOL refrigerators come with stainless steel doors. One would really only need the front of the machines in stainless with the sides gray or black like they build refrigerators. It would seem a good selling point for TOL laundry. |

SQ had a SS FL pair at one point, IIRC. KitchenAid's Pro Line® pair, circa 2005. Blackstone offered a SS top deck on some toploader models (both washers and dryers) way back in the day. |

Weren't around long IIRC.
Washing machine was a more snazzy version of Whirlpool Duet, and dryer was sourced from ADC/American Dryer Corporation. As we all know WP has owned KA for ages, they subsequently purchased ADC IIRC. If one has story correct, once WP got their mitts on Maytag, KA laundry appliances were to vanish. The moniker "Pro Line" was way around, but subsequently for various reasons WP just got shot of them and everything is now Duet. www.automaticwasher.org/c... www.houzz.com/discussions/290583... www.houzz.com/discussions/243805... www.cnet.com/products/kitchenaid... |

Yes, think that may have been how things went down when WP gobbled up Maytag.
Old man Maytag must have been spinning in his grave at long detested rival Whirlpool getting their mitts on his company. But then again given some of the awful mistakes Maytag made in decades preceding that event, Mr. Fred Maytag probably did't have many tears left to shed over his company. |
