Hello all,

I'm working on a movie about the life of a music producer.
One scene takes place in the 50's, in the laundry room of an apartment building and I'm desperately looking for washers and dryers from that period. We hope to have 4 units, 2 & 2 the same or very similar.
I've been reaching out to just about every prop rental place with no results and now started with collectors.
Rental or sale.
We can provide insurance, deposit, transport from and back and so on.
Would anyone have or know someone who can help me in my quest?
Any lead is greatly appreciated since it has proven to be extremely hard items to find.

Thank you.

Best regards.

Which country is your scene set in?
Also, is the scene in a rural or urban environment?
Lower, middle, upper class?
Would the machines be new-ish on your set (1950s), or average used (1940s?)

Good luck with the search!

If you are talking automatics from the 40s, they would probably be Standard Bendix bolt-down washers and Hamilton dryers. Apartment laundry rooms are not the place to look for up to date appliances. The laundry room in my parent's building in 1950 had coin op wringer washers. My Mother the Queen had a Maytag Master that was kept locked up in their storage locker and brought out on laundry day and moved to the sink in the laundry room.

The scene takes place in 1951, in NY, middle class.
The machines I'll find will determine their shape. Given the availability, I can't be that picky.

Thanks.

Something I forgot to mention that could make a difference...they don't need to be functional.

Cheers.
