Hello,

I picked up this washer and dryer in December 2018. I have tested the washer and it agitates and the timer advances, the brake releases, but I couldn’t get the washer to spin. I’d like to see them go to a good home rather than recycling them. If anyone is interested, please message me. Prefer local pick-up. Located in Frederick, MD.

My oldest sister bought a condo in Foster City, CA in like 1976 or 1977 and this is the set that was in it from the previous owner.

Just to say ... the timer is labeled in reverse for soak time, or am I not understanding the intent of it?

Yes, those panels are frighteningly familiar.

Typing this from under the bed.

I would love to have them but, unfortunately too far and shipping would cost a fortune.

How wide and how deep are these?

They look like a rather nice alternative to a twin-tub or stacked units.

As I recall they are each just 21” wide!

21 inches?

Hummmmmmm that IS very interesting..... Specially after I changed the layout in my laundry room today and I was able to free exactly 43 inches.

What is the chance I can make the washer work? Is the dryer gas or electric, if electric, can I rewire it to 110v? How much it would cost to bring them to Los Angeles?

It's possible the dryer is already a 120 volt model - many of these compact models were.

Not sure what would be causing a Wardge washer of this generation to not spin... Older models had issues with clutch springs causing a 'no spin' condition.

21" Wide Wards W&D

Have found a new home @ the Beltsville museum.

Most common reason these would stop spinning was a slight main seal leak that would ruin the top transmission bearing or a tight main seal, both really difficult fixes.

If those are "compact", then what exactly is "Fu

daveamkrayoguy's profile picture
For something "compact" that sure is a lot of features that washer has... (Much like I probably would have bought if the age of 19 could have been my home buying/housewares buying age...

Then on which, it all reminds me of going to Ward's, back in my "then", & on the newer machines, still seeing the Cold Water Wash/Rinse and even 2nd Rinse & Soak is blended in with the rest of the Wash/Rinse Programs, and all that's left is just the Water Level...

We picked Up These Cool Machines Last Evening.

combo52's profile picture

Just unloaded them from the van and they are safely in the warehouse.

James [ easyspindrier ] even included all the instruction booklets that came with the machines.

They never even sent in the warranty cards, I guess there is no point in doing so now, LOL

A few pictures from the literature.

Very neat machines! Glad you rescued them. I like how they downplay the noise of the machine with an insert with the manual.
