Took my freezer recirc fan out after discovering it was making a noise. That noise was caused by the fan rubbing on the housing cover. Interestingly... the fan seems to “float” and is not attached to anything. This can’t be right... It has two screws sticking out of the back. I did not find any loose parts.

Can someone explain was was supposed to be there? Thanks.

It appears as if the aluminum hub of the fan was designed to stay on the motor shaft, and it has somehow become loose. It may be that using Loctite to bond it to the shaft would make up for the worn bore of the hub.

Original Howard Industries motor has been replaced with a "universal fit"kit sometime in the distant past and the adaptor hub that has became loose could be loctited as suggested upthread or secured with a dab of epoxy.

Makes good sense. I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!
