Interesting how the freezer operates with no frost for the pictures.

Does anyone else have any of that DRU porcelainized cast iron cookware from Holland, I believe, like the pan sitting on the yellow range next to the yellow dishwasher?

I have checked and "tramatize" is not in the dictionary.

We never had DRU cookware with the logo on it, but my mother had DRU pan with three partitions. You could heat up food in it, sort of like a homecooked TV dinner.

DRU also made stoves, gas heaters and in the past also washers. My mothers first washing machine, a twin tub, was a DRU too.

In early 1956 my grandparents moved into a brand new track home in Pinole, Calif. that had all of these appliances in the kitchen, except the wall refrigerator/freezer and the 30” range. Grandma had the wall oven and electric cooktop instead, oh so very modern for the time. They were turquoise, and very beautiful.

Grandma was the very first member on either side of the family to have a dishwasher, and I was mesmerized by it. The GE washer/dryer combo was problematic though, and all of the new home owners that elected this option were unhappy with them. GE came out to every home, took out the “guts”of the machines and left the front panel and controls so there wouldn’t be a blank space and gave each homeowner a new Filter Flo washer and matching dryer as a replacement. They used these machines until 1964, when they downsized into a doublewide mobile home for retirement.

Since the development was still not fully sold out they still had model homes that I recall viewing with my Mom, and I thought those wall refrigerator/freezers were something else! I wanted my parents to buy one of these homes with all the bells and whistles, by my Dad hated track developments, so that was the end of that.

I inherited some pieces from my grandmother. We then picked up more along the way. Here are a few.

I would associate "traumatized" with a hopefully temporary in humane animal treatment (as in a moving vehicle going to or from the vet, as I had heard that word used) but here is a found (online at Dictionary.com) definition:
