What is this sensor with the two purple wires, should it have continuity between the two terminals? Are drum rollers interchangeable with other brands? (Besides Kenmore). These two don’t even match it appears. This dryer runs but no heat. Could this crusty ground under the control panel be the cause? Weird door switch retainer clamp. Thx in advance for any and all thoughts on these earth shaking matters of biblical proportion. | ||

 The purple wires, I believe, are on the bias heater ... which applies extra heat to the operating thermostat at lower heat settings to essentially trick it into reading higher than the actual air temp, thus cutting-out the heat at a lower air temp. It's a way to get multiple temp settings with a single bimetal thermostat, instead of having separate thermostats for each temperature choice (or an adjustable thermostat) as was used in the past. | ||

Part # 61894 or WP61894. Should there be continuity across the terminals on this part?

Further inspection revealed a bad gas coil, new units ordered and on the way. But I am still curious if the thermostat heater should show continuity across the terminals. I find R & R videos on replacement, and also that if the unit fails the dryer should still heat, but no where can I find the testing procedure or specs for this part. | ||
